OPLC Safety & Security

We are pleased to announce the implementation of new procedures for signing students in and out of the building, as well as, a new system for visitors in the building.

Beginning with the school year 2024-2025, we will be using the Raptor Visitor Management System to strengthen campus safety for students and staff. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools. Part of keeping students and staff safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times and the Raptor Visitor Management System will allow us to do this in a more efficient manner.

What will be different this year?

  • Outside doors will be locked and visitors will need to ring the doorbell and state their reason for school visit.

  • ID will continue to be needed.

  • Once in the school vestibule, you will use the laptop to sign child in or out of school.  If you need to gain entry into school for a meeting, event, or visit, you will need to scan ID into Raptor Kiosk and print visitor badge.

What to expect if I am bringing my child late to school?

  • Use laptop in the vestibule to complete google form to sign student into school.

  • For an excused tardy, please submit doctor’s note.

  • Visitors will not need to Raptor their ID for this purpose since they are not leaving the vestibule to enter school.

What to expect if I am picking up my child early from school?

  • A note which states the reason for leaving school early is required.

  • Present ID to office staff at the window.  Only parents/guardians or emergency contacts are allowed to pick up the student from school.

  • Use laptop to complete google form to sign student out.

  • Student will be dismissed to the vestibule from the main office.

  • Visitors will not need to Raptor their ID for this purpose.

What to expect if you are visiting the building to volunteer, attend a meeting or event?

 ● Upon being allowed through the exterior doors of a district building, visitors will be asked to scan their photo ID/driver’s license in the self-serve kiosk located in the vestibule.

 ● After scanning, you will have the option to print a badge if you are entering the building.

● This badge must be worn at all times when in the building.

● When in the building, you are only approved to go to the specific location requested. You should not go to any other area of the building without returning to the main office for approval. ● When leaving the building, return to the main office, turn in your badge and sign out.

What if I do not have a US Government ID?

● If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use an alternate photo ID.

 ● In this case the visitor must present their non-US government photo ID as well as a second ID with their name on it, such as a bank card, credit card or passport.

 ● As long as we have two forms of identification, one with a photo, we will manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system.

What does the Raptor System do?

● The Raptor system will check to ensure that registered sex offenders are not entering our school campuses without our knowledge. The Raptor system checks the visitor’s name and date of birth for comparison with a national database of registered sex offenders. The registered sex offender database is the only official database checked by the Raptor system. No other data from the ID is gathered or recorded and the information is not shared with any outside agency.

● The Raptor system will check for court issued custodial orders, restraining orders and other custom alerts as established by the District.

● Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit.

What if I am just dropping off something for my child at the office?

● Leave item on bench and let office staff know the student name and teacher name.

What about evening events?

● We will not be scanning IDs for events held at the buildings after school hours.
