The Carpentry and Cabinetmaking program is a 3 credit Pennsyvania Department of Education approved Career and Technical Education Program of Study designed for students interested in a variety of woodworking careers. Students engage in hands-on learning for 2-3 periods daily, culminating in a senior-year CO-OP experience that applies classroom knowledge in real-world settings. This project-based program emphasizes learning through practical experience, guiding students in crafting fine furniture and completing advanced woodworking projects.

The curriculum covers essential woodworking techniques, including surfacing, cutting, shaping, joining, assembling, finishing, and installation. A combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on projects provides comprehensive training to ensure graduates are equipped with the skills to safely operate and maintain advanced woodworking equipment, preparing them for careers in finish carpentry, rough carpentry, architectural millwork, furniture making, or cabinetmaking. Students also gain leadership and employability skills as members of the SkillsUSA organization, with opportunities to earn industry certifications and college credits.
